About This Event

Feed your curious mind with one of the free activities taking place at the Physicians’ Gallery at The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. Upcoming sessions include: Drop-in Activity: Brain Blocks ( 13 October 2026 ). Come and explore how the brain works, what it’s made of, and how everyday experiences help shape our brains. This hands-on experience invites visitors of all ages to discover the fascinating world of the brain through interactive activities, creative crafts and research demonstrations. Drop-in Activity: Make a pomander (14 October 2026) . Plague doctors used pomanders containing flowers and herbs to protect themselves from the deadly plague. But did it work? Learn all about the plague and how it spread, then use real medicinal plants to make your own protective pomander. Physicians’ Gallery Drop-in Activities run from 11am to 2pm on all days and all ages are welcome. As well as these activities, the Physicians’ Gallery has a children’s medical library with colouring-in, worksheets and a dressing-up station available every day. The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh is on Queen Street in the city centre. Several of Lothian Buses routes serve the area on a regular basis. The nearest Edinburgh Trams stop is St Andrew Square.
